S/N 13838 KAR Southbend light 10" ( 1o K ?). This lathe is mounted on cast iron legs with the motor drive set on a steel plate behind the headstock. A flatbar brace from the countershaft mounting plate extends down to the back of the front set of legs. This lathe is in good condition with a lot of the scraping still visible. This lathe was used in a small machine shop in Elmsford, NY where specialized 35 MM projectors and cameras were designed, built and reworked. I do not know the name of the business, only that several of us bought the contents of the shop from the owner's widow. The lathe appeared to have had little use, and was equipped with: collet closer, handwheel drawbar, collets, and larger step and pot type collets. A 3 jaw & 4 jaw chuck as well as faceplate & dog plate & steady rest were with this lathe. In addition, a Southbend dial indicator carriage stop (fitted with a Japanese indicator) & micrometer carriage stop were with this lathe. This lathe has a Westinghouse single phase motor on it, light duty, resilient mounted, so may not be original. Joe
